“Sharing and the City” Join the Urban Up Kick-off in Wuppertal on 2 February 2018

Are you still buying or have you started sharing yet? Urban Up will show us how sharing can make cities more inclusive and sustainable, and how a paradigm of “Share and Barter” can lead to exciting new business models. We invite you to join us at the Project Kick-Off.

The event will start off with a keynote by David Weingärtner, Connector at Ouishare, on “Sharing and the City”, followed by a discussion on concrete visions and opportunities for sharing in Wuppertal. In the course of the evening, participants will have the chance to get to know many initiatives from Wuppertal, who are already actively practicing the “Share and Bater” paradigm. Experience foodsharing, get in touch with people who are on the forefront of clothes exchange, and find out how carsharing can make grocery shopping so much easier.

Urban Up is a joint project of the CSCP, the Wuppertal Institute and the University of Wuppertal’s Transzent. Over the course of four years, an interdisziplinary team of economist, sociologist and engineers will conduct systematic research to understand people’s motivations for sharing, gauge the scalabilty of sharing concepts and devise ways to realize the potential that sharing has for a more inclusive and sustainable life in the city.
