The Handprint: An Approach to Measuring Positive Sustainability Effects of Products. Status Quo and Outlook

The working paper (AP2) presents the status quo of the handprint methodology by elaborating on different elements of its framework. In particular, attention was given to the definition, the differentiation between handprint and footprint, the Sustainable Development Goals as the evaluation standard and the indicator set to measure both positive and negative impact across the focus areas such as „social issues“, „health“, „environment“, „economy“ and „governance“. In addition, the multi-method approach as the scientific story of the methodology is explained as well as the need to meet stakeholder expectations in order to ensure practical operability and credibility of the methodology.
