Student Assistant – Sustainable Lifestyles Team

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is looking for a student assistant for our Sustainable Lifestyles team in our offices in Wuppertal, Germany.

Starting date: starting 15. October/1. November

Duration: 6 months, with the possibility of extension

Location: Wuppertal, Germany

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is an independent, non-profit “Think and Do Tank” committed to providing collaborative solutions for a sustainable planet. The Centre was founded in 2005 by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy and is headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. A team of currently 50 multi- disciplinary professionals contributes to the worldwide activities of the Centre.

Task:

The major task of the candidate will be research and literature review: S/he will perform internet-based research for possible source material and literature relevant for major activities expected to be carried out by CSCP. Further possible tasks are related to proposal writing, presentation creation and support in designing and conducting workshops.

Qualification requirements:

  • Good academic and analytical skills. Ability to draft clearly and concisely, very good language skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organisational goals, ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with different national and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity with respect for diversity.
  • Working knowledge and familiarity with sustainability is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Other desirable skills: Good skills in basic computer usage, including internet searches. In particular, good working knowledge of MS Office-Word, Excel, Power Point, e-mail applications etc.

Language:

The first working language in this project is German, therefore fluency in written and spoken German is necessary; CSCPs overall working language is English, therefore fluency in written and spoken English is necessary as well.
