Student Assistant SIPS Team (I)

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) gGmbH is offering position as a student assistant in the Sustainable Infrastructures Products and Services (SIPS) team for 19 hours per week.

Timeframe: starting 15. October/1. November

Duration:  6 months, (extension is desirable).

Location: Wuppertal, Germany

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is an independent, non-profit “Think and Do Tank” committed to providing collaborative solutions for a sustainable planet. The Centre was founded in 2005 by the United Nations Environmental Program (UNEP) and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy and is headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. A team of currently 50 multi- disciplinary professionals contributes to the worldwide activities of the Centre.


The major task of the candidate will be to support the team on a project which brings together sustainable business with Industry 4.0 developments. In this project, the CSCP identifies how digitalization, the internet of things and industry 4.0 can be an enabler for sustainability, with a specific focus on SMEs. The project identifies tools and mechanisms to integrate sustainability into business models, it conducts implementation projects with SMEs and does trainings and capacity building on industry 4.0 for businesses. A special thematic focus lies on the circular economy. The student assistant will support these various tasks.


  • Knowledge and/ or experience of business related topics in sustainability and possibly with a background in business, industry or engineering. Specific knowledge on industry 4.0, digitalization and circular economy is a plus, though not mandatory.
  • Good analytical skills.
  • Ability to draft clearly and concisely, very good German language skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills, works collaboratively with colleagues to achieve organizational goals, ability to develop and maintain effective work relationships with different national and cultural backgrounds with sensitivity and respect for diversity.
  • Other desirable skills: Good skills in basic computer usage, including internet searches, MS Office-Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.


The first working language in this project is German, therefore fluency in written and spoken German is necessary; CSCPs overall working language is English, therefore fluency in written and spoken English is necessary as well.
