Choose Germany’s most Sustainable Products in the “Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis” Competition! Vote Now!

Europe’s most renowned sustainability award, the “Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis” (DNP), rates sustainability frontrunners in the consumer goods sector. In a competition between companies, cities and individuals, Germany’s most sustainable consumer goods are nominated and awarded with the assistance of the CSCP.

The DNP brings together over a thousand of the most relevant actors from the sustainability scene to identify and reward the sustainability frontrunners nationwide and to contribute towards mainstreaming environmentally-friendly and responsible lifestyles.
As part of the ceremony, the REWE Group and its partners are looking for Germany’s most sustainable consumer goods. The process consists of three stages, involving the CSCP as an independent research institute, an expert jury and consumers. The latter will make a final decision in early November and will vote on the products from the food or non-food sectors that have the largest impact on lowering their own environmental footprint, enabling a more sustainable lifestyle.
During the initial stage, the CSCP is responsible for pre-evaluating a broad range of products according to various sustainability criteria through the use of the Sustainability Hot Spots Analysis (SHSA) tool and nominating the most promising products for the award. The short list of products is then submitted to the expert jury of the DNP, which gives its approval of the final list of participants. The last stage is an online consumer voting poll, where consumers can choose the best and their top 3 products. The products from the list prepared by the CSCP and the jury are presented together with their sustainability stories. The consumers can then express their opinion on which products they find the most trustworthy with regards to sustainability issues and which products they are willing to stay loyal to when shopping.
This year, 42 candidates from a broad range of product categories were nominated to take part in the competition. Check them out and vote for your sustainability favorite!

The award is endorsed by the German Federal Government, local and business associations, as well as numerous NGOs. It was established in 2008 to encourage the acceptance of social and ecological responsibility and to identify and reward frontrunners in the area of sustainable production and consumption.
