BOOM Project Participates in youcoN 2019

“How would we live in 2030? What would we wear? What would we eat? How would we move from one place to another? Where does energy come from?” These questions guided the participants of youcoN 2019 through their vision of 2030.

Last month the CSCP joined the youcoN with a few BOOM tools in their luggage. With the motto “Wir l(i)eben Zukunft” (We live/love future), around 150 young adults aged between 14 and 27 gathered in Prora an island of Rügen, in Germany. YoucoN is one of the biggest youth conventions for sustainability, where topics such as climate protection, reducing the use of plastic, digital education, environmentally-friendly mobility, nutrition among many more, were discussed. In various workshops, ideas for education for sustainable development were generated, including the question of how everyone can make a personal contribution.

At youcoN 2019, the CSCP offered a visioning workshop, that has been developed for the upcoming BOOM holiday camps starting in 2020. During the workshop, the participants developed their visions for a sustainable planet and linked this to possible career choices that could help them to make this vision come true. During various rounds of self-reflection and group discussions, the participants exchanged their viewpoints on sustainable careers for a better future.

The CSCP also participated in the festival of the future (“Fest der Zukunft”) and presented the “BOOM holiday camps” project to a wider audience. The CSCP was able to gather useful feedback on the BOOM tools and is looking forward to the first-holiday camp, which is scheduled for summer 2020.
