“Germany Saves Food” Action Week – Join Our Webinar on AI Solutions for Less Food Waste on 22 October 2021! @BMEL What innovative solutions could help reduce food losses and waste at the interfaces between sectors? How can artificial intelligence (AI) add value, what are the risks involved and how can these be mitigated? As part of the national action week Germany Saves Food, the CSCP and its partners will host an online webinar to explore these questions with actors across the food supply chain and the scientific community. In order to look at practical solutions for the reduction of food losses and waste at the interfaces of primary production and manufacturing with retail and wholesale, the webinar is co-organised by all three German Dialogue Forums against food waste, covering primary production, manufacturing and retail & wholesale respectively. The focus of the webinar will be on AI-based solutions, such as forecasting systems to support optimised planning to prevent overproduction, incorrect orders and returns. Several practical examples will be presented and the webinar will enable an exchange between relevant actors. The webinar will focus on these key questions: Which AI-based solutions are available internationally and in Germany that can be applicable at the intersection between sectors? How do they differ from each-other? Which requirements would such solutions have to meet in order to successfully reduce food waste and loss? How do these products and services deal with issues such as data protection and the exchange of data? Can they enable further system optimisations in addition to more efficient processes in supermarkets, food processing and primary production? What are the needs of the actors within the food supply chain, which opportunities and challenges do they see for these (AI-supported) products and services?
