Marrakech Process FAQs Booklet

One of the main recommendations at the Third International Expert Meeting on Sustainable Consumption and Production held in Stockholm in June 2007 was to develop a communication strategy for the Marrakech Process and to increase its visibility. As a response, the UNEP planned to produce a booklet with the most frequently asked questions about the Marrakech Process as one element of the communication strategy.

It addresses the main questions that the key stakeholders of the Marrakech Process might have (especially government, business, development agencies and NGOs), and explains in a clear and easy-to-read manner why there is a need for each group of the stakeholders to be involved, how they can participate, and what are the benefits. The booklet specifically explains;

  • the 10 Year Framework Programme on SCP
  • the Marrakech Task Forces
  • the role of civil society, business and industry in the Marrakech Process
  • Marrakech Process at poverty reduction
  • the contribution of the Marrakech Process to tackling climate change
  • the road map of the Marrakech Process

The booklet addresses these issues with photos, diagrammes and pictures. It summarises the Marrakech Process activities and results achieved so far. The appendices provide information on websites and publications for further reading.

The booklet will be produced under the title "Frequently Asked Questions on the Marrakech Process".
