Civil Society Platform on Sustainable Consumption and Production

In order to reach the goal of shifting towards less environmentally damaging consumption pat-terns, the involvement of all societal actors - government, business, academia and civil society - is needed. Although participation of civil society is considered crucial for the implementation of ambitious sustainability strategies, many implementation programs and activities so far do not yet consistently involve stakeholders from this field. The objectives of the Civil Society Platform on SCP project are to enhance the involvement of civil society organisations in SCP, identify research needs and design elements of deliberative processes on sustainable consumption and production (SCP) in the high-impact demand areas food, housing and mobility.

The project gives civil society organizations a space for identifying research needs and influencing political decisions on sustainable consumption and production. The project consists of an opening and a closing seminar and a three-part workshop series. The workshop series brings civil society organizations (CSOs) together with research organisations and governments to explore the state of the art of SCP. A wide range of CSOs from all European countries are in-vited to participate in the platform.
