A family trip by bike instead of by car, turning old furniture into new designs instead of it ending up collected for disposal or preparing dinner using vegetables of seasoned with a group of friends instead of putting convenience food into a microwave... Sustainable consumption and future lifestyles can lead to a better life that also reduces negative environmental impacts. One of the biggest challenges we face in shifting to sustainable consumption and lifestyles is the need to turn theoretical knowledge into practical changes in behaviour.

The CSCP project “Generating new concepts and ideas for sustainable consumption and future lifestyles in Germany” explores and envisions opportunities that lie in the areas of visualizing sustainable lifestyles, qualifying people to live and consume sustainably and to create networks to connect existing incentives and actors. The project is supported by Deutsche Bundesstiftung Umwelt (DBU), a German environmental foundation.
After analysing the current landscape of projects and incentives in Germany, the CSCP established an online discussion forum to get insight into three guiding questions:
German speaking experts and people interested in the topic are invited to join the discussion and bring ideas of how sustainable consumption and future lifestyles could be implemented in practice. The discussion will run until 15 July 2011. Thereafter, leading ideas will be taken up, published and made available via the platform.
