CSCP newsletter - December 2010

Welcome to the latest edition of the Newsletter of the CSCP (download it here), the home for making sustainable consumption and production happen. Here at the CSCP we believe that a sustainable world of decent living conditions for all is not only possible but with the right combination of research and action also achievable.

How can swarming help against warming? When are hotspots a part of the solution to a shift towards sustainable lifestyles? How can school children inspire sustainable living while competing for prizes and having fun? We explore this and more, with news of the best, diverse ideas and initiatives from Pakistan to China and the Fair Trade town of Wuppertal.

Our featured methodology in this issue is Hotspot Analysis. We explain how the Hotspot Toolbox identifies sustainability priorities and turns them in to value adding opportunities. With the same entrepreneurial goal in mind we examine the potential of strategic alliances for sustainable innovation, bringing together the knowledge and potentials of different stakeholders in the value chain. Putting this into practice we report on the recent SWITCH Asia networking event in Bejiing, aimed at scale up and exchange of learnings between 30 funded sustainability initiatives.

If that’s still not enough, we’ve details on the SMART business guidebook, packed with 52 actions and tips for SMEs (Small Medium Enterprise) on sustainable business for every-one looking for a weekly dose of SCP. We wish you inspiring reading in the spirit of the CSCP-spreading SCP ideas and opportunities, for policymakers, business and civil society alike!
