At REWE Group's Sustainability Forum held in Berlin on 19 April 2010 the new sustainability label "Pro Planet" was introduced by the retail and tourism company for its own brands. In order to receive the "Pro Planet" label, the product must go through a standardised five step process developed by the CSCP together with the Wuppertal Institute and triple innova. The methodology has been succesfully validated by TÜV Rheinland.

The United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) discusses the implementation of Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI). The 10-year framework of programmes (10YFP) on sustainable consumption and production patterns is one of five thematic issues to be reviewed from 3 - 14 May in 2010. The UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) will jointly with other projects partners present two side events.

Media can play a key role in influencing consumer behavior and fostering more climate-friendly lifestyles. The approach of Edutainment, i.e. using emotional, effective media strategies, thereby is crystallizing as an important tool for reaching mainstream consumers (e.g. addressing climate change in a daily soap; reality-TV shows with stars/idols, who try to shift towards a sustainable lifestyle).
