Leadership Programme for Sustainable Entrepreneurship

The Sustainable Entrepreneur Programme aims at developing and implementing a one-year part-time leadership programme on sustainable entrepreneurship. It will promote new enterprises, whose core activities are centered on creating social and/or environmental benefits. Especially due to the rising number of people who focus their lifestyles on health and sustainability (LOHAS) there is a growing market e.g. for organic food or ethical fashion as well as a growing number of business ideas in the field of sustainability.

Resource Productivity in Global Value Chains

Resource efficiency and resource productivity issues are receiving growing attention worldwide. Reasons include recent resource scarcities and rising prices of certain commodities as well as the contribution of resource consumption to climate change.

 

As value chains become global, resources increasingly flow across national boundaries during the different phases in value chains. Extraction, manufacturing, consumption and end-of-life treatment often happen in different countries or even continents.

On occasion of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, SERI (Austria) will organise a two days conference in cooperation with CSCP to reflect more recent developments and synergies between economic efficiency, environment and employment. Contributions to European Actions for sustainable energy use

The CSCP prepared a background paper entitled "Sustainable Energy Consumption" for the European Conference under the Marrakech Process on Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP).

This event took place in Berlin on 13-14 December 2005 with attendance of 70 experts from around Europe. Aiming to move the Marrakech Process forward by concretising actions in European countries, the participants focused on SCP in the field of energy use, and shared information on ongoing activities and identify priority areas as well as potential gaps in policies and tools.

Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer opens the CSCP

The "UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production" (CSCP) started with an opening ceremony and a press conference on 25 November 2005. Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director of UNEP, and Prof. Dr. Peter Hennicke, President of the Wuppertal Institute, signed the Memorandum of Foundation.
