14th Eine-Welt-Netz Regional Conference – Solingen, Germany, 5th-6th March 2010

Apocalypse Now or Sustainable Gross National Happiness? - Good ideas in turbulent times

Today, humanity stands at a crossroad: are the apocalyptic prognosis right or do we manage to limit the global warming still in time by utilising global resources and living in a more sustainable way? Can we still hope for a peaceful, fair, ecologically and economically stable future? If so, how should this challenge be handled?

This year’s regional conference of the German association Eine-Welt-Netz will deal explicitly with the capabilities of our civilization to guarantee its future. Participants will have the opportunity to discuss and look upon this central question from different angels.

Speakers from the North and the South will be brought together to present positive examples. They will report about organizations and individuals from all over the world that are already following the path of sustainability. In addition, engaged representatives from NGO’s, policy and administration, churches and science, business, economy and civil society will be present and share their experiences.

The conference will be jointly organised by three partners from North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany: The Eine-Welt-Netz will be supported by the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy and the UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP).
