Do You Know How Logistics Enable Sustainable Lifestyles?

Join us October 4th in Duisburg and find out at the Opening Event of our “Innovation Platform on Logistics for Sustainable Lifestyles”.

All along the value chain of our consumption patterns, businesses are identifying and implementing innovative logistics solutions that enable us to live more sustainable lifestyles —from new delivery and packaging systems like replacing styrofoam with a mushroom based alternative to the integration of sharing economy approaches into the values chains.

In our project “Innovative Logistics for Sustainable Lifestyles” (ILoNa) we have created a better understanding of the interaction between consumer behaviour and logistic services. We have identified consumption trends on an international level and looked at how these pave the way for new business models, focusing in particular on the food retail and online fashion sectors. Now we want to share our insights with you and discuss how these will impact the German landscape.

To lay the foundation for mainstream solutions, ILoNa has established an Innovation Platform, which is opening  on the 4th of October in the Gerhard-Mercator-Haus in Duisburg. Logistic providers, researchers, and civil society will be brought together to develop business models, products, and services around logistics that enable sustainable consumption. The platform will identify concrete measures to simultaneously address sustainable lifestyles and logistic trends and will facilitate their prototyping and piloting.

The event will be the kick-off to a multistakeholder-process between research, business, and civil society with the aim of piloting the developed products and services. Alongside the pilot projects, communication strategies incentivising sustainable consumption choices are being developed in the project and are tailored to reach specific target groups.

Join us in Duisburg on October 4th to learn about the opportunities these new trends in logistics and consumption can provide for you and to actively shape the related developments. You can find a detailed program and register your participation here: ILONA Innovationsplattform

The project “Innovative Logistics for Sustainable Lifestyles” (ILoNa) is a research and innovation project funded by the German Federal Ministry for Education and Research (BMBF). Together with partners from Research, Academia, and Business, ILoNa builds the link between consumer behaviour in consumption choices and the underlying logistics from a sustainability perspective.
