
The Centre provides scientific support to activities undertaken by UNEP and other organisations in the field of SCP. This support includes the development, testing, implementation and monitoring of concrete projects, especially in developing countries, which enables these countries to leapfrog to sustainable consumption and production patterns using life cycle thinking and regional perspectives as guiding principles.

The Head of the CSCP Michael Kuhndt was present at the World Economic Forum "Annual Meeting of the New Champions 2009" in Dalian, China from 10-12 September 2009. The CSCP participated/managed 5 sessions on various topics relating to Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP). The UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is organising an international conference called “The Future of Sustainable Products and Services” that will be supported by the Ministry of the Environment and Conservation, Agriculture and Consumer Protection of North Rhine-Westphalia.
