Student Assistant (SBE team)

Duration: 19 hours/week (spread over 3 days/week) over a period of at least 6 months (an extension is desirable), beginning preferably July 2013

Location: Wuppertal, Germany

 

 

The Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) is an independent “Think and Do Tank” committed to providing collaborative solutions for a sustainable planet. The Centre was founded in 2005 by the United Nations Environmental Progamme (UNEP) and the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment and Energy and is headquartered in Wuppertal, Germany. A team of currently 40 multi-disciplinary professionals contributes to the worldwide activities of the Centre.

 

We are now looking for a student assistant to support the team of Sustainable Business and Entrepreneurship (SBE). The team follows the mission of mainstreaming the means of sustainable living and business practices, which comprises development of sustainability strategies, new business models, trends and innovations in sustainability as well as capacity building in sustainability. It involves sectors such as food, retail, consumer goods and others.

Your role

    • Conducting literature reviews and online desktop research on various sustainability topics (in English, potentially also German)
    • Preparation of fact sheets and background documents on sustainability themes
    • Support in writing proposals, articles and reports 
    • Contribution to project specific tasks for a diverse set of clients, ranging from private companies to public institutions, on national and international level
    • Organizational support for implementation activities such as workshops and conferences
    • Preparation of convincing and creative Power Point presentations

  

Your competencies

    • Completed first part of degree (“Grundstudium“ or at least in the 3rd year of Bachelor study) preferably in business/economics, political studies, international relations or similar
    • Enrolled status and active studies for at least still the upcoming 6 months 
    • Past experience of similar work 
    • Very good research and analytical skills
    • Solid communication skills with written and spoken fluency in English, preferably also in German 
    • General passion and knowledge in the area of sustainability
    • Holistic thinking and understanding business mind-set
    • Proficiency in using Word, PowerPoint and Excel 
    • Team oriented and ready to take responsibility 
    • Proactive attitude and creative
