Impulses for Sustainable Consumption: German Retailer REWE Group introduces sustainability label "Pro Planet"

At REWE Group's Sustainability Forum held in Berlin on 19 April 2010 the new sustainability label "Pro Planet" was introduced by the retail and tourism company for its own brands. In order to receive the "Pro Planet" label, the product must go through a standardised five step process developed by the CSCP together with the Wuppertal Institute and triple innova. The methodology has been succesfully validated by TÜV Rheinland.
The Pro Planet label shall represent for consumers a reliable guide for sustainably produced products and make these attractive for the mass market. The REWE Group aims to  sell more than 500 million items until end of 2011 car [...] Read more

CSCP at UN Summit on Sustainable Consumption and Production

The United Nations Commission on Sustainable Development (CSD) discusses the implementation of Agenda 21 and the Johannesburg Plan of Implementation (JPOI). The 10-year framework of programmes (10YFP) on sustainable consumption and production patterns is one of five thematic issues to be reviewed from 3 - 14 May in 2010. The UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production (CSCP) will jointly with other projects partners present two side events. The third SWITCH-Asia news brief is now out!

The news brief covers the latest announcements from the SWITCH-Asia Programme including the activities of the Network Facility; latest happenings in the SWITCH-Asia projects as well as in the world of Sustainable Consumption and Production.
The regional environment programme SWITCH-Asia, is aiming to promote the adoption of Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP) among Small and Medium sized Enterprises and consumer groups in Asia. Climate Change and the Media: Deutsche Welle Global Media Forum

Media can play a key role in influencing consumer behavior and fostering more climate-friendly lifestyles. The approach of Edutainment, i.e. using emotional, effective media strategies, thereby is crystallizing as an important tool for reaching mainstream consumers (e.g. addressing climate change in a daily soap; reality-TV shows with stars/idols, who try to shift towards a sustainable lifestyle). How can we design media strategies, which reach different consumer groups and encourage them to take actions against climate change? Save the date: Strategic Alliances for Sustainable Development – Conference on Strategic Alliances their management and their role for realising sustainable Innovation

The CSCP will act as a partner of the conference Strategic Alliances for Sustainable Development on 31 May 2010 in Duisburg, Germany. Participants will learn about the potentials of sustainable innovation through strategic alliances and how to tap them.
