Winners Announced! Consumers Chose Germany’s Most Sustainable Products at “Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis 2016”

Düsseldorf 29.11.16: End of November, the “Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis 2016”, Europe’s most renown sustainability award set its stage Germany’s sustainability frontrunners. Amongst others, Germany’s most sustainable consumer goods were awarded – with the assistance of the CSCP.

The ‘Deutscher Nachhaltigkeitspreis’ brought together 1,200 of the most relevant actors from the sustainability scene to identify and award sustainability frontrunners in Germany’s landscape and to contribute towards mainstreaming sustainable lifestyles. Among the audience were the chief executives of national and international companies, well-known sports, TV, and movie personalities, representatives of local and national governments as well as individuals renowned for their efforts in promoting the idea of sustainable development through their commitment to NGOs, foundations, and trusts.

One major element of the ceremony is the award for Germany’s most sustainable products. For this category, consumers are asked to choose their favourites when it comes to sustainable consumer goods. They can choose those products from the food and non-food sector that had the strongest impact on lowering their sustainability footprint resulting in a better lifestyle.

The CSCP helped consumers in their choice by pre-evaluating a broad range of consumer products according to their sustainability criteria using the Sustainability Hot Spots Analysis (SHSA) tool and nominated the 60 most promising products for the award.

This year’s winners in the category “Food” are:

Winner: BIONADE Holunder

Runners-Up: CHIQUITA Chiquita Bananen, Plant-for-the-Planet – Die Gute Schokolade

This year’s winners in the category “Non-Food” are:

Winner: Frosch Citrus Dusche & Bad-Reiniger

Runners-Up: Frosch Reine Pflege Granatapfel Cremeseife, Frosch Spiritus Glas-Reiniger
