Together with the UNEP, the CSCP is currently looking for project partners to publish a self-help guidebook provisionally entitled “Do SMART Business – Week by Week”. Targeting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) around the world, this publication will introduce the basics for operating their business in a more environmentally and socially responsible manner.

The guidebook is designed to provide 52 actions (one per week) which SMEs can imple-ment in their operations to improve their environmental and social performance. Each action will be presented on a double page that contains non-jargon accessible texts with an illustration, a photo or a picture that attracts the reader’s attention. Where needed, additional information, links or tools will be provided. In the end of the guidebook, a tool for self-evaluation of the achievement will also be offered. Different from the existing tools and publications, this publication will target new audiences - ordinary managers and employees in SMEs who are not familiar with sustainable development issues.

As one of the components of the SMART (Sustainability for the Small and Medium Sized Enterprises committed to Accountability, Responsibility and Transparency) project, this guidebook will be developed based on our experience with the Efficient Entrepreneur Calendar. The publication is planned in late 2007. The project is partially financed by the UNEP.

The project partners are expected to provide the CSCP with financial assistance to complete the publication of the guidebook and/or distribution channels through their networks and media. The partners will get a high level of recognition as project supporters along with the UNEP.
