CSCP News, January 22, 2007
The International Symposium "Towards Sustainable Lifestyle and Business Model - Policy Trends of Sustainable Consumption and Production" organised by the Institute for Global Environmental Strategies (IGES) Kansai Research Centre (KRC) was held on 17 January, 2007 in Kobe, Japan. The aim of this symposium was to raise awareness on the above mentioned issues through discussing on the most recent policies and its developments from a global view point. The symposium was attended by more than 150 people.
The first keynote speech, held by Michael Kuhndt of the CSCP, was titled "Innovations for Human Development in Global Value Chains". It highlighted the potentials of the "Human Development through the Market" approach, which can successfully realise poverty reduction and creation of business opportunity along value chains.
