The CSCP did host a "Climate Café" for the Wuppertal-Ostersbaum quarter, in which the Centre is situated, on September 11, 2007. The event is part of the local responsibility initiatives implemented by the CSCP together with the community-organisation startpunkt and the local neighbourhood centre. It is organised under a one-month climate change campaign by the City of Wuppertal.

The "Climate Cafè" will bring together energy efficiency experts with local decision makers and representatives of a variety of organisations and institutions to identify starting points for Osters-baum community-based climate projects that address the global climate challenge.

Practical local energy efficiency solutions are particularly relevant because of the potential not only to reduce emissions of CO2 but also to support the Ostersbaum neighbourhood rejuvenation project. This could come about by lowered energy bills for residents and creating new job opportunities, e.g. for ‘energy saving detectives’.

As an international ‘think and do-tank’ the CSCP aims through the “Climate Café” project to provide a model for other cities and neighbour-hoods worldwide to initiate locally adapted practical climate change initiatives.
