'Green Week' was aimed to provide a platform for debate, exchange of experiences, and best practices among varying participants from business, NGOs and different levels of government and the public. It spanned four main topic areas; Resources and Waste Management, Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP), Nature and Biodiversity, and Climate Change. Nine workshops were conducted on each theme over the four day conference and prominent speakers from government, business and NGOs discussed the most pressing environmental issues of our times.

The session on SCP highlighted the significant impact European patterns of SCP has on the environment within and outside Europe. The aim of the session was to identify these needs and find the right solutions to address them. In addition to the presentation by Michael Kuhndt of CSCP, the talks given by other speakers in this session; Ms Jacqueline McGlade, Executive Director, European Environment Agency (EEA); Mr Timo Makela, Director DG Environment, European Commission; and Mr Anders Wijkman, Member of the European Parliament, addressed the current unsustainable practices in Europe, and the current European Commission’s Action Plan on SCP. The launch of 'Onedidit' a collaborative project between 'The Finnish Association for Nature Conservation' and the CSCP also took place during the conference.
