Project News, June 19, 2007
Together with the UNEP/UNESCO youthXchange the CSCP supports the international youth camp “Ice – Climate – Education” in Spitzbergen organised by the polar expert Arved Fuchs.
The year 2007-08 is the International Polar Year set as a large scientific programme focused on the Arctic and the Antarctic. Marking this occasion, a German leading polar expert Arved Fuchs is organising an international youth camp “Ice – Climate – Education” from 14 to 21 July 2007 in the Spitzbergen archipelago in the North Atlantic. 14 young people from five nations (Germany, Denmark, Norway, Czech Republic and China) will have an opportunity of getting an on-the-spot picture of climate change. After returning from the camp, the participants will act as “Ambassadors of the Arctic” at their schools and encourage school projects on environmental protection.
The CSCP is pleased to support this international project as a good example of education for sustainable development. The project aims at providing hands-on knowledge and experiences on climate change and its relation to consumption behaviours and lifestyles. <- Back to: HOME |
