The seminars focused on developing strategies for incorporating Sustainable Consumption and Production into the corporate and national levels, using technical, institutional and policy level tools shared by guest speakers from leading research institutions, influential political organisations, and multinational corporations.

Representatives from EC DG Environment, United Nationals Environmental Programme Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (UNEP DTIE), Middle East Technical University, Bosphorous University, European Roundtable for Sustainable Consumption and Production, Automotive Manufacturers Association (OSD), Turkish Chemicals Manufacturers Association (TKSD), Procter and Gamble, Atateks Group, and CSCP held three panel discussions on how to promote Sustainable Consumption and Production strategies, the role business plays in their integration and the perspective and challenges of Sustainable Consumption and Production concepts in Turkey.

In Turkey some limited efforts on sustainable consumption and production are taking place in the scope of the EU accession process. In this respect, mostly small-scale research projects carried out by the academia have been presented at the event. Participants also mentioned the necessity of partnerships between various national stakeholders such as business platform organisations, governments and academia to acquire the benefits of sustainable consumption and productions strategies.

Moreover, potential value of setting up international partnerships was emphasized.
