On occasion of the Austrian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, SERI (Austria) will organise a two days conference in cooperation with CSCP to reflect more recent developments and synergies between economic efficiency, environment and employment. The conference will take place in Vienna, Austria on 8/9 June 2006.

The "UNEP/Wuppertal Institute Collaborating Centre on Sustainable Consumption and Production" (CSCP) started with an opening ceremony and a press conference on 25 November 2005. Prof. Dr. Klaus Töpfer, Executive Director of UNEP, and Prof. Dr. Peter Hennicke, President of the Wuppertal Institute, signed the Memorandum of Foundation.

Among its first activities, the CSCP was involved in writing the Discussion Paper serving as the background document to the 2nd International Expert Meeting on The 10-Year Framework of Programmes on Sustainable Consumption and Production. This major event of the Marrakech process took place in San José, Costa Rica, from the 5th to the 8th of September 2005.
